Liam Gingrich (liam@codexofminds.codexofminds.com)

Hello world! My name is Liam, and I’m a perpetually curious person who will talk your ear off about tech things. I currently work as a Software Engineer, but in my free time work on a variety of things tech related, from writing custom API libraries in Rust to soldering together Meshtastic nodes. I’m decidedly not content with the state of Big Tech; people have become subjugated to technology in ways that magnify the harms of Capitalism and the State, and the alignment of Big Tech and the 2024 Trump Administration has made it ever more pressing to understand tech’s power both to liberate or oppress depending on who wields it. If I could be stated to have a single driving mission in my tech work, it is to make tech work for us, not the other way around.

In my Codex of Minds, you can expect deep dives on whatever technology my Autistic brain has hyperfixated on this week, discussions on current events in the tech space from a broadly Left/Socialist/Anarchist perspective, and coverage of interesting open-source projects that are aligned with that perspective or otherwise useful.

Outside of work, you can find me enjoying a campfire in the woods, helping neighbors move heavy things, playing single-player puzzle and factory building video games, participating in TTRPG campaigns when the opportunity presents itself, and quite often writing on my computer as I am now.

This blog is an exercise in many things; writing, hosting a static site (Hugo with Decap CMS on GitHub Pages at time of writing), and discussion with easily my best friend from college, who is less technical than I but has a level of project management experience I do not. It is my hope that this becomes more than two tech workers yelling into the cloud, but we shall see in time.
